Today was kind of a bad day. Nothing major happened, just nothing seemed to go right. Sometimes it just helps to have a reminder that there are still lovely things in the world.
This video will at the same time warm your heart, and also make you feel like you’re wasting your life. These kids are from a very poor village in Paraguay that is built on a landfill, but instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they are learning to play beautiful classical music on instruments made out of recycled trash.
The cello at :54 seconds in gave me chills. It’s pretty amazing.
I just came across moreloveletters.com, and it is pretty lovely. It is a community of people that write love letters to someone who needs one. You can nominate someone in your life who is having a rough time, and within a few days, they will be getting a huge dose of love from people all over the world.
They also have a section called “found love letters”. Apparently there are people out there sneaking around hiding love letters in nooks and crannies all over the place, and maybe when you need it the most, you can find one.
People take pictures of their found love letters and send them in to the website, and describe where and how they came across it. Some of the reactions are so sweet, and it’s nice to think of someone who is struggling finding one of these notes and knowing that somewhere in the world there is somebody who cared enough to take the time to hide a secret love letter.
Maybe this weekend I’ll give up a few minutes of soaking up the sun, and take the time to spread a little love around.
Totally obsessed with this. Photographer is led around the world by his girlfriend.

A short film made in 1956. I saw it a few years ago, and it’s kind of stuck with me ever since. There are always going to be people who try to make you feel bad to make themselves feel better, or who try to kill your dreams because they are too afraid to try for their own.
Just watch it, and see if it doesn’t brighten your day.
I took a painting class a few weeks ago, and it was a really great experience. Ever since then I’ve had an urge to make something, but since I don’t really have any idea what I’m doing, I’ve been thinking of taking another art class, but it seems a bit daunting.
The classes are kind of expensive, but mostly I just can’t decide what I’d like to do. I’m torn between a painting class, a pottery class and a mixed-media art class, and I can’t decide, so I’ve been spending a lot of time online marveling at the talent of others, and feeling inferior.
Here are some of the pictures that have been inspiring me lately.

| Love this. At some point our bodies might lose the ability to dance, but maybe our souls never do. |
