I’ve been in NYC since early Tuesday morning and it’s been absolutely pissing rain ever since.
I said that to my boss once and he said it was crass, but I think maybe it’s a very common thing that Canadians say that Americans don’t.
I woke up to sunshine this morning so I dove out of bed to go for a run in Central Park. I’m having the best day already and it’s only 9 am.
One of the reasons I went to Vegas last weekend was to do the Colour Me Rad 5K with 2 of my best friends. I’ve done the Colour Run before, and to be honest, it was quite a bit better organized than this one, but the company for the Rad run was spectacular.
My hair was green for the rest of the weekend, and I’m pretty sure my lungs are still rainbow on the inside, but it was really fun. I put my “RAD” tattoo on my arm, and for the rest of the weekend people were like “RAD! I LOVE YOUR TATTOO” everywhere I went. There was so much enthusiasm for it that I briefly, after several martinis, considered making it permanent.

This video is a great reminder of how far we’ve come. Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to enter the Boston Marathon. During the race, she was physically attacked by one of the race organizers for having the audacity to participate in a “male” sport.
She went on to become an advocate for women’s athletics, and she opened the door for millions of women, including myself, my mom and my younger sister, to be able to participate in marathons, and other running events.
